4 Month Appt.

M had her 4 month appointment on Wed. It went pretty well...she got more shots, which she was NOT a fan of. It was definetly worse than the 2 month appointment. =/

Anyways, She's 16lbs, 4oz. Which is in the 95th percentile for her age.
And she's 25 1/4 inches. Which is the 90th percentile for her age.

I love my big girl! =]

Adventures in Rice Cereal

In honor of M's 4 month birthday tomorrow we decided to try some rice cereal tonight. She has gotten it the last two nights in a bottle...but tonight, we fed her with a spoon. Yes, a spoon. I must say it was definetly a new experience. =]

Madeline's Baptism & Mother's Day

Whew, what a long day!

Happy Mother's Day to you all! I hope everyone had a great day spent with their babies (hey, big kids are still babies to their mommies!).

First off, my husband bought me an amazing gift. I give the man crazy credit for this one and promise to not nag him for a while. (Empty promises. Thankfully, He doesn't read this.---I kid! =])

OK, so on top of it being Mother's Day, it was also Madeline's baptism. She was so good for the entire church service and fell asleep right before we went up.

God-Mummy Lindsey got M a beautiful bracelet that was made of M's birthstone. Attached was a small bead of Lindsey's birthstone and then a small silver cross. I love it.

She woke up just as he was announcing her to the church as the newest member of the congregation and then promptely fell back asleep. So stinking cute.

Afterwards, we took a ton of pictures and then had everyone over for a big cookout.

It was a great day! Enjoy some pictures!

Before I Was A Mom.

I was given this poem about two weeks before I gave birth to Madeline. Tomorrow will be my first Mother's Day and I've been doing a lot of reflecting on the past three months.

In these last three months my life has changed dramatically. This little girl has become my everything. I would do anything for her, give anything for her. I want her to have the whole world and I will do everything in my power possible to make sure that she has just that-the world. She deserves to be loved and worshipped and I will make sure that she never feels anything but that.

I have big dreams for you, little one.

--------------------------------------------

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
Or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
My plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
And my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
So doctors could do tests.Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
Watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
When I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
Could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
Having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
To feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
Between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
Could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderment
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom..

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
Before I Was a Mom.

M & the Dr.

So, I took M to the Dr. on friday. She had this huge raw spot under her neck that I wanted someone to look at.

Anyways, the dr. says that "her neck is just short and fat"--her words, not mine. I'd never call M "fat", I prefer "pleasantly plump".

Supposedly moisture is polling in her neck rolls--mmm.--and I just need to keep it dry.

Dr. then suggested putting turtlenecks on her.--Really, In 80+ degree weather? Are you insane? Seriously, who gave this woman a medical degree?
